Co-CEO Tejas Kulkarni stated that the partnership combines the best of 3D commerce and AI innovation. Interestingly, Kulkarni previously served as a Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, making this acquisition a homecoming for him.
Additionally, Google has been aggressively expanding its AI portfolio recently. The company recently partnered with the voice AI startup Hume AI and is finalizing the acquisition of cybersecurity firm Wiz for $32 billion. It also announced a massive $4.75 billion deal with clean energy developer Intersect Power to meet the energy demands of its AI infrastructure.
While Google’s Gemini AI model has made significant strides in text and image generation, its native 3D model creation abilities were still under development. The technology from Common Sense Machines is expected to fill this gap, helping Google create more immersive AI experiences.
